Every year City of Sydney council hosts the Art and About exhibition in various streets and public spaces around Sydney. One of the most popular exhibitions is Sydney Life which takes over the central walkway of Hyde Park North. Images are blown up to giant bed-sheet size prints and hung between the trees that line the boulevard.
This is the first year I’ve been eligible to enter as you have to be a citizen or permanent resident, so I’ve entered the two images you see here. Hundreds of entries are received and the competition is very stiff but if you don’t have a go you never know.

A couple of weeks ago I headed up to Airlie Beach with my friend Zdenek as a little post birthday treat. Airlie Beach is known as the gateway to the Whitsundays, a group of islands just off the coast of Queensland which feature spectacular scenery, clear blue sea and white sandy beaches.
We stayed at the Summit Apartments in a fantastic 2 bed place overlooking Airlie, however the view meant it was on a hill which was a bitch to walk up, even going down wasn’t that easy, still worth it though. The weather for the week was fantastic, blue skies and sunny every day. We did a bit of cycling, hiked up small moutain, went out on a boat trip round the islands with a bit of snorkelling and lunch on Whitehaven Beach, and went Sea Kayaking.
The area is such a great place for photography and I made the most of the new Sigma 10-20mm Ultra Wide Angle lens I bought for my birthday. The last time I visited it was a little cloudy and dull so this time is was great to see the islands, beaches and water bathed in sunshine, a very nice, relaxing 5 day break.

Last Sunday was another sunny winter’s day and I hadn’t been down to Bondi for a while so jumped on the scooter and went down for a stroll. It’s still not quite warm enough for many to venture into the sea other than the surfers, but in the sun it was t-shirt weather. I wandered around part of the Bondi to Bronte walk taking photos back toward Bondi on the way.
I also took the opportunity to try out my new Sigma 10-20mm Ultra Wide Zoom lens, it’s great for landscapes and with the polariser filter the colours just look fantastic (if I say so myself!). Here’s to heading back to the beach in summer…..go take a look at the full set of photos.
